"Wait, what is the meaning of that?"
I said softly after withdrawing my lips from hers. "it means a capital YES"
she said holding up my head. "Are you sure?" I asked her. "I mean
it" She said kissing me again. "oh thank you dear, you made me happy"
I said as we both get out from the house.
On getting to the hostel, I met my friends and
the happiness on my face showed that I'm so happy. "Oh boy wetin happen to
you today abi your Nairabet don pay ni?" Wilson said jokingly
"You know that I don't play bet at all now"
I said jokingly as I jumped on the bed like a helpless Elephant "Then what happen?" Ekony said
as he bump into the conversation. "You won't believe that Sania has accepted
my proposal" I said with a great excitement. "mtcheew, what's special
about that?" Wilson said as he continue his own last project "She even kissed me" I said. "hmmmm,
you don't mean it" Ekony said in surprise. "yeah, I'm serious about it"
I said in a triumph manner. "hmm that's great" Wilson said in
approval "that means that you are the latest couple in town" Ekony said
jokingly which made everybody bust into laughter.
One of the greatest achievement in life is to
be a graduate because spending five years in school is not a small thing.
The D-day has come, the hall was furnished like
never before, music glaring in solo tune, the
preparation were just like never before, it is
the day when we will be award according to our
department and faculties.
Already, we student were already seated in a place,
but as for me I was with my mum and dad
Coupled with my naughty sister Niniola fondly
called Nilly, The *MC* emerged from the back stage with a list of the best graduating
student and other students. "The best student for the department of Pharmacy
for this year is....." "Penorat!!!!" My friends shouted in whole
hall
"It is Penorat-Atkinson" The MC called
my name which was followed by a loud music from the
DJ as I climb up the stage with my family to collect
my award and I went to meet the Vice
Chancellor to receive a handshake and a fatherly
pat on my back. "Thank you, thank you" the MC said waving hands at the
DJ to slow down the volume of the music. "and the best graduating
studentis..." "Penorat Atkinson" the whole audience roared.
On seeing this, I stood up and climb up the podium
to collect my award only to find Sania sitting
beside the Vice Chancellor.
*Wait is Sania the daughter of the Vice Chancellor
or how is that possible* I thought as I received my award. It was a never green
day for me and my generations to come because I know that I made my mum and dad
coupled with my sister very proud. "Now it time to hear a word of advice from
the best graduating student" The MC said as he called me up.
There was a thunder of applause from the whole
hall. "hmm, Good day everyone, I thank the *ALMIGHTY GOD* for making me where
I am today because without him I can't make it here today all thanks to him and
to my family, all I could say that everything is by the grace of God..."I said
as tears begin to flow from my eyes. Seeing this I saw a figure coming towards me
which made me recognize that it was Sania and before I could finish my speech she
had given me a long lasting hug. I don't know how the feeling was; it was just a
memorable day for me when the whole audience roared with applause because I felt
on top of the world and at least I made my parents happy.
"Dear, do you know that man (pointing to
the Vice Chancellor)" I said after the convocation when I was going hand in
hand with Sania. "Yeah, don't you know that he's my dad" she said
smiling. "Yee, mogbee, you mean Professor Huges is your father?" I asked
in shock as I immediately removed my hand from hers. "yes now, why did you
react in such a way" she asked surprisingly. "So I've been dating *OMO
VC* since all these while without even knowing" I said opening my mouth in
astonishment.
"She busted into laughter, what special there,
is it wrong?" she asked in amusement. "And you can't tell me since these
days?" I said trying to frown a little. "I should tell you and you should
now leave me in fear, don't you know that I don't wanna lose you at all" She
said looking into my eyeballs. "hmm I know but I'm wondering how you brought
yourself so low to be on campus" I said with amazement. "Hmm, from my
father's opinion, he wanted me to study abroad but I told him that I don't want
to be there, I want to be here, although it is a long story sha" she said as
she caught my hand again. "No but I can't just imagine myself with a whole
daughter of the Vice Chancellor, it's amazing" I said still surprised. "common
jhur, stop kidding, is that a new thing?" she said hitting my chest
friendly. "That means I've made a good decision" I said facing her. *She
smiled* "if you made a good decision, that means that I've made the right choice"
she said as we both laughed lovingly together.
When you find your true love or you marry your
best friend, it's like you brought back a little bit of your past, you will feel
loving, I experienced mine when I fell in love with Sandra.
As days turns out to weeks and weeks turns into
months, months turn up to years, my relationship with Sania has been so so intimate
because it has been moving from dating, we have been planning our wedding. On a
particular day, something happened.....
Sandra came to my house because by that time I
haven't secured a job so on her way coming
she was so pathetic reading one of the daily newspaper.
"Dear, what happened to you, your face looks depressed?" I asked her as
she sat down on my lap. "This lady is one of my friend in school and now she
was caught up in the airport on her way to smuggle a hard drug suspected to be cocaine
and marijuana" She said crying. "ohm sorry, but can I check her face?"
I said as I collected the newspaper from her but I received the greatest shock of
my life when I found out that the person Sania was talking about was Lina......
"Whaat!!!!" I shouted as I hurriedly dropped Sania off my lap. "What,
do you know her before?" She asked on seeing my reaction
"I do, this is Lina, my first love......"
I said facing back at the paper. "whaat, you mean Lina?" Sania said with
shock.
